Central vacuum tubing is an important fundamental part of central vacuum system. The quality of vacuum tubing you use not only impacts how well the completed system will perform, but also how well (or easily) the system can be installed. Inferior tubing can lead to longer installs with system errors and red-tagged inspections if your tube is not a certified model. While there are dozens of PVC tube manufacturers across the world, JABAT is one of only two currently certified to build pipe to the ASTM F2158 standard in the USA.

IAPMO Research and Testing, Inc. (International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials) is the body that awards certification of the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) shield indicating that Jabats 2" central vacuum tube meets the F2158 ASTM (American Society for testing Materials) standard for use in residential central vacuum systems. The IAPMO testing team has tested the actual product taken from the factory or the field, or both. The IAPMO system also provides for periodic surveillance of the facilities and third party scrutiny of Jabats quality assurance programs.
The ASTM standards tested by IAPMO for Jabats pipe which has been awarded the UMC shield tells the installer that the tube conforms to the F2158 standard - the only standard written for central vacuum installation. It also is clearly marked with the standard and approval, which lets any local code inspector know the tube has been designed for use within the UMC. In some areas of the US, pipe and intra-system fittings not marked with the UMC or ASTM can be denied a passed inspection requiring you to replace those unmarked fittings and pipe. All pipe and fittings sold by Vacdepot conform to ASTM-F2158 and are marked with IAPMO UMC.
